The Grove of Eglantine

"The Grove Of Eglantine"

(Dennis DeYoung)

Hey you there
Cast an eye this way
You with that young lust virgin smile
Don't pretend that you're quickly melting before my eyes
That's a lie

'Cause I see all of you
Quite clearly now
I like our looks your moves you know everything
So when I ring you up in the evening I shall meet you

In the Grove of Eglantine
Just south of man's delight
Close to a soft flowing stream

In the Grove of Eglantine
We will join as lovers might
Between the lines of a dream

Your magic lips
Have made me realize
All of the pleasures man can fantasize
So don't pretend that you're sad to see me say goodbye
That's a lie

You're a wicked wench...ha
But thanks for all the laughs
You and your young lust virgin smile
And when I'm gone for awhile
I'll once more want to meet you

In the Grove of Eglantine
Just south of man's delight
Close to a soft flowing stream

In the Grove of Eglantine
We will join as lovers might
Between the lines of a dream
In the Grove of Eglantine
Just south of man's delight
Close to a soft flowing stream

In the Grove of Eglantine
We will join as lovers might
Between the lines of a dream

Jonas Psalter

"Jonas Psalter"

(Dennis DeYoung)

When Captain Jonas Psalter
Sailed his ship to sea
Anne Bonny kept him company

The skull and crossbones flew
Above the ocean blue
The captain's men where a pirate's crew

The ships they sought to take
Were of the Spanish Main
A gift from Ferdinand of Spain

And though you rob and kill to find your dream
Your crimes are hardly what they seem

Tortuga held the treasure of a thousand kings
So Jonas planned to steal everything

Two hundred men stood guard
Around the fortune's nest
But Psalter's steel slew all the rest

And when the smoke had cleared
And bloody bodies lay
Everyone could hear the minstrel play

Woo woo Jonas Psalter
You've captured every prize
There is to dream of in one life

And so we wonder why
We found you in your bed
With that bullet in your head

The Serpent Is Rising

"The Serpent Is Rising"

(John Curulewski, Chuck Lofrano)

In the abyss of space
From the center of time
A superman race
Moves the Serpent to climb

The journey has lasted
Seven ages or more
Life after life
Must pass through the door

The secret revealed
When you leave your cave
Is a glory of thunder
And life from the grave

The Serpent is rising
Uncoiling in your spine
Bringing you light
From the depths of your mind

The people have massed
In the center of town
We drink from a glass
And the world turns around

The Serpent is rising
Uncoiling in your spine
Bringing you light
From the depths of your mind

The Serpent is rising
Uncoiling in your spine
Bringing you light
From the depths of your mind.

Prelude 12

"Prelude 12 (Promised Land)"

(J. Baxter)

It was 'bout 15 years ago
Just about this time
The child we both were waiting for
Soon opened his eyes
First the cough & then the pain
Showed within your face
I felt the cold mist round your hand
Like death was in its place

Lord, Lord take my hand
Take me down to the promised land
Ever since you died my heart has died
I'll be with you in the sunshine, sand

I called the doctor to your side
He knelt down by your bed
He looked at you, he held your hand
Then he shook his head
The child you want won't give the love
You both want to get
As your wife come quickly now
Cos she has not long to live
He said--

Lord, Lord take my hand
Take me down to the promised land
Ever since you died my heart has died
I'll be with you in the sunshine, sand

Every day I go to kiss, the ground in which you lay
Your golden hair has turned to dust
Your smile has turned to clay
The pain I felt for 15 years
This life won't take a win
And I will lie within your arms
By the evening of this day

Lord, Lord take my hand
Take me down to the promised land
Ever since you died my heart has died
I'll be with you in the sunshine, sand

Man of Miracles

"Man Of Miracles"

(James Young, Raymond Brandle, Dennis DeYoung)

He was a man of miracles

Fighting the solar windstorm
A winged horse guides his way
Oracle of the ancient midnight
Calls forth everlasting pain

And I know, yes I know
He was a man of miracles
Riding golden meteorites
Ruler of distant galaxies
Born of the northern lights
Of the northern lights

Sorcerer of the dark moon
Who dare incur his rage?
First child of the scorpion
Prophet of the crystal age

And I know, yes I know
He was a man of miracles
Riding golden meteorites
Ruler of distant galaxies
Born of the northern lights
Of the northern lights

He was a man of miracles

Christopher, Mr. Christopher

"Christopher, Mr. Christopher"

(Dennis DeYoung)

I remember Christopher
such a man
so brave and tall

he took the baby Jesus
in his arms
across the waterfall

people cried, "he's holy!
he's a saint not a man!"
all at once it was written
in the book of the land

Christopher, Mr. Christopher
why won't they leave you alone?
Christopher, Mr. Christopher
why won't they leave you alone?

there was Mary Margaret
a Christian lady
dressed in black

she believed St. Christopher
helped her find
a way back

she told him all her secrets
and the dreams of her years
so when they took that saint away
all that's left were her tears

Mary cried "they're crazy!
the world is changing too fast!"
it was then she discovered
that her faith couldn't last

Christopher, Mr. Christopher
why won't they leave you alone?
Christopher, Mr. Christopher
why won't they leave you alone?

Earl of Roseland

"Earl Of Roseland"

(Dennis DeYoung)

oh oh oh oh oh

penny pitching on the walk
waiting for the bus to arrive
me and Davy playing sport
watching for the cops to go by

spider man and the human torch
they cover Barney's newsstand
morning crowds start to gather round
fast finger steals what he can

morning leaves for the afternoon
the boys show up on time
in the streets near the people's store
below the electrical sign

catch a glimpse of a passing car
raced and ready to drag
then the skirts start to tantalize
the boys how they boast and they brag

oh the earl of Roseland
oh the earl of Roseland

where has he gone?
a memory at dawn
you're just a bit of the past

oh oh oh oh
oh the earl of Roseland
oh the earl of Roseland

me and Davy gazing back
see ourselves as we were
how we laugh when we think of things
that we did yesteryear

I can see Charlie on the porch
Johnny clicking his sticks
and two boys I don't even know
rehearsing electric string tricks
ya ya ya ya ya ya

Krakatoa

"Krakatoa"

(John Curulewski, Paul Beaver, B. L. Krause)

Krakatoa
you've changed your ways
from evil days.
Oh I know a once violent isle
and gentle smile.

When the dust and lava cooled
you were sterile as the rock
from which the earth was tooled.
Was man's beginning a wind borne spore
to fly no more?

Nature's winning her docile spree
has set her free.
Seeds were wafted on the wind
forming heavy undergrowth
for species winged and finned.

Tangled mangles rebuilt your soil
from age dead toil.
Sheltered bay coves protecting life
from Satan's knife.

Grow
and island in the sun
where the hell fire
belching earth
had destructively left none.

Witch Wolf

"Witch Wolf"

(James Young, Ray Brandle)

Reoccurring symptoms
Answer the baleful howl
Bringing me dreams of darkness
The doer of all that's foul
Raping the minds of infants
Sower of unplanted seeds
Full moon warrior
Doer of sordid deeds

Witch Wolf
Night Rider
Why do you call for me?

Thirteenth hour madman
Bringing my soul to fire
Visions of my sweet Beulah
To torment soon retire

Witch Wolf
Night Rider
Why do you call for me?

Got my one-way ticket
on this hell bound train
I can't seem to stop falling
I bear the wrath of Cain

Witch Wolf
Night Rider
Why do you call for me?

Street Collage

"Street Collage"

Well, you see now
I'm a depression baby
And I remember the WPA
If we could just start the same thing again
And get people working out
There, why not?
Is it too menial for somebody to sweep the street?

And if you've got enough money where you don't have to work
Let's face it, who wants to work?
There's no reason why anybody
That five generations of people
Got to be on welfare

I had one gentlemen get in ---
No offense to you gentlemen,
he had long hair and a beard --
And I told him,
He had better go home and take a bath;
He had B.O. so bad, it was terrible
I said "You might be educated,
But did your parents tell you to go dirty?"

See the latest issue
Hard up, see
Chicago scene

Kids nowadays,
that's the whole thing
Too much money,
they've got too much money
They don't have to struggle
and work for things
Like when I was growing up had to do
And I was lucky if I got that job
Delivering hats in a hat store
For twenty-five cents per hat
Too much money today is with the young kids
Everything was handed to 'em,
And that's why
they are the way they are

Movement For The Common Man

"Movement For The Common Man"

(Aaron Copland)

another new day takes up on you
a fanfare wakes the land
the naked lives just a shining down
at the dawn of the common man

outside in the madding crowd
he laughs along the way
traffic city, what a pity
it doesn't have a word to say

troubled people, billions of people
they can't seem to understand
the ringing ears are unable to hear
the sounds of the natural plan

Man in the Wilderness

Man In The Wilderness

Another year has passed me by
Still I look at myself and cry
What kind of man have I become?
All of the years I've spent
in search of myself
And I'm still in the dark

'Cause I can't seem to find
the light alone
Sometimes I feel like a man in the wilderness
I'm a lonely soldier off to war
Sent away to die -
never quite knowing why

Sometimes it makes no sense at all
Ten Thousand people look my way
But they can't see the way that I feel
Nobody even cares to try

I spend my life
and sell my soul on the road
And I'm still in the dark
'Cause I can't seem to find the light alone

Sometimes I feel
like a man in the wilderness
I'm a lonely soldier lost at sea
Drifting with the tide
Never quite knowing why
Sometimes it makes no sense at all
(I'm alive)

Looking for love I'm a man with emotion
(And my heart's on fire)
I'm dying of thirst in the middle of the ocean
I'm alive!

Great White Hope

Great White Hope

(James Young)

When I ws a young man,
I had to kick and scratch and claw
Now it's like top gun in the Old West,
everybody wants me to draw

If I had known it would be like this
I might have given it a second thought
But if someone had told me to give it up,
it's a line that I wouldn't have bought

Look at me
I'm the great white hope
Can't you see
I'm up against the ropes
Don't you know
It's so hard to cope
When you feel
Like the great white hope

Now you've paid your money
you're sitting in your ringside seat
And I know that some of you out there,
might wanna see the champ get beat

If I had known it would be like this
I might have given it a second thought
But real life sure isn't like school,
there's some lessons that just
can't be taught

Hit Counter

I tried several times to add a hit counter to this site but nothing I tried worked.
I even tried pasting the counter from FFTL but that isn't "well formed" for this site or some damned thing.

Google easyhit counters to see what they are claiming to offer you for free.
Theoretically you just copy their HTML and paste it into the "edit HTML" of the layout.

ML's Wake

ML's Wake

By this time, wonderful friends,
and readers,
you are all aware that
our dearest Mary Lynne
had taken flight,
escaped her pain,
and transferred her joy
into the welcoming arms
of angels.

As a poet,
it is now time
for me to take
a sabbatical from the pen
and immerse myself
into the sad reality
of picking over her personal things,
peering into her idiosynchracies
and quiet secrets hidden
in boxes, drawers,
closets, and behind doors.

Hubbabubba Scott is executor
and inheritor
of our dear Mary Lynne’s estate,
and the fact that we
pretty much do things
together,
I will be involved in the hard work
of going through her possessions,
helping him decide
what to keep
and what to give
to family, friends & charity.

Last week
was very difficult for us.
I’ve cried my eyeballs out
and can’t find them on the floor,
anywhere.
I had no idea how emotionally draining
this all would be;
informing officials,
taking care of arrangements,
making the phone calls,
picking out clothes for her to wear.
Just going through her drawers
looking for undergarments
and looking through her closet
for hat, shoes, etc.
took a toll on me.

I felt like any minute
she would come through the door,
shreik,
and ask what the hell
we were doing
rummaging through her apartment.

Then we had to find her mother’s ashes.
Thank God
I can go into 6th sense
on short notice,
and found her
in the closet
everyone had sworn
they looked through
and swore she wasn’t there!

Then there are the times
during normal conversation
when someone says something
and this triggers another round of tears.

I don’t do well under stress.
I attended her funeral services
with a fever blister
on my upper lip
that looked
like a miniature cauliflower.
I was such a lovely sight.
NOT!

Anyone who has gone through this
will be able to attest
to the exhaustion one feels.
We plan on taking our time
with this process
because dear Mary Lynne had so many things,
duplicates even.
She must have had some ‘pioneer’
in her blood;
she was stocked up and ready
for any kind of catastrophe.
No kidding!

We already found a bunch of irons,
all in their boxes,
working and dead ones.
Why she didn’t throw away
the ones that didn’t work,
I’ll never know.

ML had every piece of clothing
in its own dry cleaner bag.
She has about 30 different hats
for all seasons
all in their own hat boxes.
All her shoes were in their own shoe boxes.
In her safety deposit box
she had all her legal papers in a row,
copy of her funeral plot,
and in her files
she had little maps drawn
for directions to other important papers.

I am learning so much
about how to organize things -
down to the size of a gnat’s eyeball -
how to properly stack
linens and sheets and towels
to get the maximum number
into the smallest places.

Thank you Mary Lynne, for
when my tears dry up
and I can catch my breath
and exorcise this knot in my stomach,
I will emerge an enriched person,
and your allowing me
to peek into the icons and artifacts
of our family's past
will undoubtedly transcend my grief,
and be reborn
as poetry.

Ada's Adventure

Painting by Rick Mobbs

Ada’s Adventure

In Atlantis
there existed a world
without war,
where children could be raised
devoid of fear,
of racism,
of hate;
beautiful children,
whose resplendent robes
shimmered with every color,
who were still in touch, in contact,
with Allthatis,
who could still remember their past lives,
who were born wistful yet wise, not
whelped into chaos
like the future brood.

Love was a constant,
a natural state,
more sustenance than gift—
so much so
their spiritual companions;
teachers, guides, and protectors
were actual, real, incarnate,
regal in their wings,
feathers, capes, compassion
and nakedness.

Miss Ada was blond
this time around,
brown eyed,
mischievous,
intelligent,
diminutive,
unafraid,
eager for the learning,
still playful,
viewing her world
with a innate sense of wonder,
treading lightly over the rainbow rock cobblestones
in her marvelous pointy red shoes.

Her Master Companion,
Raffuselda,
part griffin,
part python;
famous for her ferocious loyalty
and her positive outcomes,
took the little girl daily
to the Temples
of Learning,
of Health,
of Science,
of the Arts,
and the Circus of Creatures—
mammals, reptiles, amphibians, insects,
and all the things of flight,
from pixies to phoenix.

Ada’s favorite was
the Temple of Oceans,
visiting it every day,
stopping by the arch of the Red Skull,
to peer through the thick blue glass and talk
with the dolphins, sharks, and sea horses;
they loved her interest
and unabashed affection;
speaking openly to her,
sharing the wonderful wisdom
of Neptune and Trident and Davy Jones,
all the secrets of the silver coral
and the magnificent machinations
of things unseen but heard, heralding
from the shadowed depths of the deepest trenches,
from curved crevasses,
from thick and majestic shells—
mumbled messages from
the Sages of the Salt.

It was they, in unison,
who first sounded the alarm,
warning the girlish entity
of impending doom,
of a disaster that would certainly occur
on her 21st birthday—
when all she knew;
population, edifices, structures, knowledge, art,
would sink into the sea
and wholly disappear,
becoming myth, legend, and a tale of woe.
Ada only nodded and smiled.
She had chosen this age and this life,
and since she was fully aware
of the Cosmic Truths,
mere transitions
did not frighten her—
but at that moment in the Now
she could not yet see
the Nubian slave,
the Greek goddess,
the Roman gladiator’s woman,
the Persian prostitute,
the Catholic nun,
the King’s mistress,
the Pilgrim,
the French revolutionist,
the Sioux princess,
the bank robber,
the WWII riveter,
and the well received daughter
of artists in New Mexico,
that she would become.

Miss America

Miss America

You were the apple of the public's eye
As you cut the ribbon at the local mall
A mirage for both you and us
How can it be real?

We loved your body in that photograph
Your home state sure must be proud
The queen of the United States
Have you lost your crown?

Well aren't you, Miss America
Don't you, Miss America
Won't you, Miss America our love?

Are you really who we think you are
Or does your smile seem to wear your down
Is the girl who you once were
Screaming to jump out?

Is the dream that you must live
A disease for which there is no cure
This rollercoaster ride you're on
Won't stop to let you off

Well aren't you, Miss America
Don't you, Miss America
Won't you, Miss America our love?

Well it's true just take a look
The cover sometimes makes the book
And the judges did they ever ask
To read between your lines?

In your cage at the human zoo
They all stop to look at you
Next year what will you do
When you have been forgotten?

Chorus: Well aren't you, Miss America
Don't you, Miss America
Won't you, Miss America our love?

Renegade

Renegade

(Tommy Shaw)

Oh Mama,
I'm in fear for my life
from the long arm of the law
Law man has put an end
to my running
and I'm so far from my home

The jig is up,
the news is out
They finally found me
The renegade who had it made
Retrieved for a bounty
Never more to go astray
This'll be the end today
Of the wanted man

Oh Mama,
I've been years on the lam
and had a high price on my head
Lawman said 'Get him dead or alive'
and it's for sure he'll see me dead

Dear Mama
I can hear you cryin',
you're so scared and all alone
Hangman is comin' down
from the gallows
and I don't have very long

The jig is up, the news is out
They finally found me
The renegade who had it made
Retrieved for a bounty
Never more to go astray
The judge'll have revenge today
On the wanted man

Oh Mama,
I'm in fear for my life
from the long arm of the law
Law man has put an end
to my running
and I'm so far from my home

I heard the knock on my door
I heard the ring of the bell
I got the letter
but I couldn't go

So many thoughts in my head
so many places to be
So many faces that I long to see
Standing in front of me

Tonight the lights will take me
where I long to be
Just like a thousand nights before

Somebody said to me
Why do you do this to you
Why not sit back and relax
Go to the Islands and forget it all

Slow down
you're moving too fast
You seem afraid it won't last
Take my advice
go straight and settle down

Thank you for caring
but
Tonight the lights will take me
where I long to be
Just like a thousand nights before
I can't explain
it gives me some pain

Give me the lights
Precious lights
Give me the lights
Give me my hope
give me my energy
You can turn the wrong into right
Precious lights
Illuminate me
won't you let me play
Give me the lights

Brave New World

Brave New World

There's a face in the glass
Looking through the mirror
At the maze of my past
It was never clearer

On the distant horizon
The storm approaches
Better cover my eyes
Better hide the roaches

In the best of my time
There was something better
And the quest of my mind
Was to try and get her
Something simple and pure

As the thoughts in my head
Not the tears in the rain
Over me she shed
We were almost there
Still I was unaware

Here in the Brave New World’s embrace
I watch the parade begin
Searching for one familiar face
And I wonder where I fit in

How will I know if there’s a place
For me in the Brave New World
To be calm in the eye
Of the human storm

In house full of dreams
I am safe and warm
Looking back at a life
Filled with warm embraces

No regrets only memories
Of smiling faces
We were almost there
Now change is in the air

Until now I held the zone
I ruled the world
I called it home
I never saw the down side

See the now
see the Zen
There is no division
Through the eyes of a child

There is perfect vision
And the best of our lives
Resonate the hills
And the sun’s gonna shine
And you know that I will...

The Grand Illusion

The Grand Illusion

Have you ever been sittin'
at home watchin' television
and suddenly something comes on the TV
and you say to yourself,
"Hey, how come my life ain't like that?"

Or maybe you're sittin'
lookin' in a magazine,
you see some pictures,
some advertising, you says,
"Man, I must really suck because my life sure ain't like that."

Did you ever feel that way? Yeah-
Well, you wanna know why your life
isn't like what you see on TV
and in movies,
in magazines and such,
you wanna know why?

'Cause that's all bullshit!
That's right-
Don't you go believing movies and TV
and rock videos and all that crap,
come on, I mean-
All that is
is somebody else's fantasy,
you know what I'm sayin' to you?
In fact, all it is
is really more like a "Grand Illusion."

Welcome to the grand illusion
Come on in and see what's happenin'
Pay the price
get your tickets for the show
The stage is set,
the band starts playin'
Suddenly your heart is pounding
You're wishing secretly
you were a star
But don't be fooled by the radio
The TV or the magazine
They'll show you photographs
Of how your life should be
But they're just someone else's fantasies

So if you think your life is complete confusion
'Cause you never win the game
Just remember that it's a grand illusion
And deep inside we're all the same
We're all the same
So if you think your life is complete confusion
'Cause your neighbor's got it made
Just remember that it's a grand illusion
Deep inside we're all the same

America spells competition
Join us in our blind ambition
Get yourself a brand new motor car
But someday soon we'll start to ponder
What on earth is this spell we're under
We made the grade and still we wonder
Who the hell we are

Blue Collar Man
from the Styx LP "Pieces of Eight"

Give me a job,
give me security
Give me a chance to survive
I'm just a poor soul
in the unemployment line
My God I'm hardly alive

My mother and father,
my wife and my friends
You're seen them laugh in my face
But I've got the power
and I've got the will
I'm not a charity case --

I'll take those
Long nights,
impossible odds
Keeping my eye on the keyhole
If it takes all that
to be just what I am
Well I'm gonna be a blue collar man

Make me an offer that I can't refuse
Make me respectable man
This is my last time
in the unemployment line
So like it or not --

I'll take those
Long nights, impossible odds
Keeping my back to the wall
if it takes all night to be just who I am
Well I'm gonna be a blue collar man

Keeping my mind on a better life
Where happiness is only a heartbeat away
Paradise--can it be all I head it was
I close my eyes and maybe I'm already there.

Wonderlove

Wonderlove

I believed
That one day love would cast a line
I believed
There was something more for me to find

Hoping today
Hoping tomorrow
Taking it all in stride
I believed
I could be chasing my mind

There you were
Like a dream to me
Wonderlove
Could this really be
Wonderlove

Can I make you see
You're the world to me
I believe
If only we could take the time
Eventually
We would learn each other's life
Open the heart
Give it a moment
Leaving the cares behind
Happily
We could be two of a kind

There you were
Like a dream to me
Wonderlove
We were meant to be
Wonderlove
Can I make you see
You're the world to me

It was the very next day
that I came alive
The door flung open
there was a vision
couldn't believe
My eyes
Everyone immortal
like as though they didn't get it
Everyone believing here at last
receiving wonderlove

It's a place
We all belong
Wonderlove
Can I make you see
You're my world
I believe
I would walk a thousand miles
Just to see
The vision of your simple smile
Everyday
Wanting to follow
Forever by your side
Faithfully
You are my destiny

There you were
Wonderlove
We were meant to be
Wonderlove
It's the world where we belong
Wonderlove
Together we
Will faithfully

Future Times

Future Times

(Jon Anderson/Steve Howe/Chris Squire/Rick Wakeman/Alan White)

In the fountains of the universe
(set time in accord)
Sits the bouychild Solomon
(Ever turning round and round)

In the cities of the Southern Sky
(set points universe)
Dreams he of glory
(pulsating round and round)

Future times will stand and clearly see
(highest dancing)
Of the course of innocence
(Drifting drifting)

See it all
Till tomorrow
See it all
Future times will stand and clearly smile
Of the course of innocence

Dantalion will ride again
(raging forth underland)
The course of evils standing straight
(grind to grind)
Hot metal will abound the land
(churning out shout)
As the form regards our blazing hand

Future times will stand and clearly see
Of the course of innocence
One the word will enter all our hearts
Two the duel will alter them
Three jewels countenance divine away delight away
four the fight to free the land
Five the islands of Arabia
Six the tears that separate

Perpetual Change

Perpetual Change

(Anderson/Squire)

I see the cold mist in the night
And watch the hills roll out of sight.
I watch in ev'ry single way,
Inside out, outside in, ev'ry day.

The sun can warm the coldest dawn
And move the movement on the lawn.
I learn in ev'ry single day,
Inside out, outside in, ev'ry way.

And there you are,
Making it up but you're sure that it is a star,
And boy you'll see
It's an illusion shining down in front of me,
And then you'll say
Even in time we shall control the day,
When what you'll see
Deep inside base controlling you and me.

And one peculiar point I see,
As one of many ones of me.
As truth is gathered, I rearrange,
Inside out, outside in, inside out, outside in,
Perpetual change.

And there you are,
Saying we have the moon, so now the stars,
When all you see
Is near disaster gazing down on you and me,
And there you're standing,
Saying we have the whole world in our hands,
When all you'll see,
Deep inside the world's controlling you and me.

You'll see perpetual change.
You'll see perpetual change.

And there you are,
Making it up but you're sure that it is a star,
And boy you'll see
It's an illusion shining down in front of me,
And then you'll say
Even in time we shall control the day,
When what you'll see
Deep inside base controlling you and me.

As mist and sun are both the same,
We look on as pawns of their game.
They move to testify the day,
Inside out, outside in, inside out, outside in,
All of the way.
Ah, Ah.

Arriving UFO

Arriving UFO

(Jon Anderson/Steve Howe/Rick Wakeman)

I could not take it
oh so seriously really
When you called
and said you'd seen a UFO

But then it dawned on me
the message in writing
Spelt out a meeting
never dreamed of before

I looked out, in the night
Strange and startling
Was this voice of time just saying
There's got to be a linking of everyone
Got to be a centre

It all comes flooding back
Arriving thru eons of times
immortal power of the future to behold
Vessels of a different impression,
none that we could ever hope
to have known

So look out, in the night
Once they arrive
On that perennial light
Impress a bolder empire of energy
In the ships we see
The coming of outer space

You say there's no reason to conjure
With the force as it
has been known to be see
You say I'm a fool,
a believer
Put your feet on the earth
it is green

But look out, in the night
Wait for they arrive
To start such sciences anew
Here it is the coming of outer space
Such a pure delight
The coming of outer space

Parallels

Parallels

(Squire)

When you've tried most everything
and nothing's taking you higher.
When you come to realize,
you've been playing with fire.

Hear me when I say to you,
it's really down to your heart.
It's the beginning of a new love in sight.
You've got the way to make it all happen.
Set it spinning turning roundabout.

Create a new dimension.
When we are winning
we can stop and shout
making love towards perfection.

I've been all around the world
and seen so many faces.
Young and old a story told,
filling in my spaces.

Now without a trace of doubt
I feel it every hour.
It's the beginning of a new love inside.
Could be an ever opening flower.

No hesitation when we're all about
to build a shining tower.
No explanations, need to work it out.
You know we've got the power.

Parallel our sights.
And we will find, that we,
we need, to be, where we, belong.
Parallel our heights
display our rights,
and wrongs,
and always keep it--STRONG.

It's the beginning
of a new love in sight.
Could be an ever opening flower.
No explanations,
need to work it out.
You know we've got the power.

It's the beginning of a new love inside.
You've got the way to make it all happen.
Set it spinning turning roundabout.
Create a new dimension.
When we are winning we can stop and shout
making love towards perfection.

Big Generator

Big Generator

Such a strange pre-occupation
Such a strange peculiar breed
How it's shining in its armour
Made of gold and made of steel
It can strike a chord inside you
Like a generation's need
Speaking happy words of promise

Big generator
Lives out of sight
Big generator
Hands upon the wheel
Moving to the left
Movin'
Moving to the right
big generator
moving through the night
Second nature sacrifice
Even if you close your eyes
We exist through this strange disguise

I have heard it said to someone
Or maybe it was me
There is a reason to experience
Psychedelic so we could see
To be growing up before us
Like the black and white of love
Be the focus
Be the chorus

Big generator
Hands upon the wheel
Big generator
In for the kill
Second nature comes alive
Even if you close your eyes
We exist through this strange device
Moving to the left
Moving to the right
Big generator
Moving through the night
We are the voices of the big generator
Moving through the night
Movin'
Flying out the soft machine, we offer
All surprise to you
Praise oh praise this anthem generator
Moving through the night
Movin'
We are the voice of every. . .

Close To The Edge

Close To The Edge

I. The Solid Time Of Change

A seasoned witch could call you
from the depths of your disgrace,
And rearrange your liver
to the solid mental grace,
And achieve it all with music
that came quickly from afar,
Then taste the fruit of man
recorded losing all against the hour.
And assessing points to nowhere,
leading ev'ry single one.
A dewdrop can exalt us
like the music of the sun,
And take away the plain
in which we move,
And choose the course you're running.

Down at the edge, round by the corner,
Not right away, not right away.
Close to the edge,
down by a river,
Not right away, not right away.

Crossed the line around
the changes of the summer,
Reaching out to call
the color of the sky.
Passed around a moment
clothed in mornings faster than we see.
Getting over all the time
I had to worry,
Leaving all the changes
far from far behind.
We relieve the tension only
to find out the master's name.

Down at the end, round by the corner.
Close to the edge, just by a river.
Seasons will pass you by.
I get up, I get down.
Now that it's all over and done,
Now that you find, now that you're whole.

II. Total Mass Retain

My eyes convinced,
eclipsed with the younger moon
attained with love.
It changed as almost strained
amidst clear manna from above.
I crucified my hate
and held the word within my hand.
There's you,
the time,
the logic,
or the reasons we don't understand.

Sad courage claimed the victims
standing still for all to see,
As armoured movers took
approached to overlook the sea.
There since the cord,
the license,
or the reasons we understood will be.

Down at the edge, close by a river.
Close to the edge, round by the corner.
Close to the end, down by the corner.
Down at the edge, round by the river.

Sudden cold shouldn't take away
the startled memory.
All in all,
the journey takes you all the way.
As apart from any reality
that you've ever seen and known.
Guessing problems only
to deceive the mention,
Passing paths that climb halfway
into the void.
As we cross from side to side,
we hear the total mass retain.

Down at the edge, round by the corner.
Close to the end, down by a river.
Seasons will pass you by.
I get up, I get down.

III. I Get Up, I Get Down

In her white lace,
you could clearly see
the lady sadly looking.
Saying that she'd take the blame
For the crucifixion
of her own domain.
I get up,
I get down,
I get up,
I get down.

Two million people barely satisfy.
Two hundred women watch one woman cry,
too late.
The eyes of honesty can achieve.
(She would gladly say it amazement of her story)
How many millions do we deceive each day?
(Asking only interest could be
layed upon the children of her domain)
I get up, I get down.
I get up, I get down.

In charge of who is there in charge of me.
(She could clearly see the lady sadly looking)
Do I look on blindly and say I see the way?
(Saying that she'd take the blame
For the crucifixion of her own domain)
The truth is written all along the page.
(She would gladly say it amazement of her story)
How old will I be before I come of age for you?
(Asking only interest could be layed upon the children of her domain)
I get up, I get down.
I get up, I get down.
I get up, I get down.

IV. Seasons Of Man

The time between the notes
relates the color to the scenes.
A constant vogue of triumphs dislocate man,
so it seems.
And space between the focus shape
ascend knowledge of love.
As song and chance develop time,
lost social temp'rance rules above...ah, ah

Then according to the man
who showed his outstretched arm to space,
He turned around and pointed,
revealing all the human race.
I shook my head and smiled a whisper,
knowing all about the place.
On the hill we viewed
the silence of the valley,
Called to witness cycles
only of the past.
And we reach all this with movements
in between the said remark.

Close to the edge, down by a river.
Down at the end, round by the corner.
Seasons will pass you by,
Now that it's all over and done,
Called to the seed, right to the sun.
Now that you find, now that you're whole.
Seasons will pass you by,
I get up, I get down.
I get up, I get down.
I get up, I get down.
I get up.

Nous Sommes Do Soleil

Ritual (Nous Sommes Du Soleil)

Nous sommes du soleil
we love when we play
Nous sommes du soleil
we love when we play
Open doors we find our way

We look we see we smile
Surely daybreaks cross our path
And stay maybe a while
Let them run, let them chase
Let them hide between
Constant doors will open eyes
As life seems like
Life seems like a
Fight, fight, fight.

Maybe I'll just sing awhile
And then give you a call
Maybe I'll just say hello
And say maybe that's all
Hurry home as love is true
Will help us through the night
Till we're coming home again
Our life seems like
Life seems like a
Fight, fight, fight.

Catch as we look and use the passions that flow
As we try to continue
We receive all we venture to give
Maybe we'll just stand awhile
And surely we can call
Dreams are said to blossom courage
Constant to the soul
Change we must as surely time does
Changes call the course
Held inside we enter daybreaks
Asking for asking four
The source
The source

Sent as we sing our music's total retain
As we try and consider
We receive all we venture to give
All we sai is our
Soul constant sight listener
We won't tender our song clearer
Till we sail
Then I will be there
And I will be there
As clearer companions
Shall call to be near you
They move around tell me that
Move around surely sing
As they don't seem to matter at all
At all at all.

Hold me my love,
hold me today
call me round
Travel we say,
wander we choose love tune
Lay upon me,
hold me around lasting hours.

We love when we play
We hear a sound
and alter our returning
We drift the shadows
and course our way on home
Flying home
Going home
Look me my love sentences
move dancing away
We join we receive
As our song memories long hope in a way
Nous sommes do soleil
Hold, me around, lasting ours
We love when we play

Heart of the Sunrise

Heart Of The Sunrise

(Jon Anderson/Chris Squire/Bill Bruford)

Love comes to you and you follow
Lose one on to the heart of the sunrise
How can the wind with its arms
All around me

Lost on a wave and then after
Dream on on to the heart of the sunrise
How can the wind with so many around me
Lost in the city

Lost in their eyes as you hurry by
Counting the broken ties they decide
Love comes to you and then after
Dream on on to the heart of the sunrise
Lost on a wave that you're dreaming
Dream on on to the heart of the sunrise

How can the wind with its arms all around
Me
How can the wind with so many around me
I feel lost in the city
Lost in their eyes as you hurry by
Counting the broken ties they decided

Straight light moving and removing
of the colour sun shine
Straight light searching all the meanings
Of the song
Long last treatment of the telling that
Relates to all the words sung
Dreamer easy in the chair that really fits
You

Love comes to you and then after
Dream on on to the heart of the sunrise
How can the sun with its arms all around
Me
How can the wind with so many around me
I feel lost in the city

Giants Under The Sun

The Ancients (Giants Under The Sun)

As one with the knowledge and magic of the source
Atuned to the majesty of music
They marched as one with earth
Sol,
Dhoop
Sun
Ilios
Naytheet
Ah Kin
Saule
Tanatiuh
Qurax
Gunes, Grian
Surie
Ir
Samse

So the flowering creativity of life wove its
Web face to face with the shallow
And their gods sought out and conquered: Ah Kin
Do the leaves of green stay greener through the autumn
Does the colour of the sun turn crimson white
Does a a shadow come between us in the winter
Is the movement really light
And I heard a million voices singing
Acting to the story that they had heard about
Does one child know the secret and can say it
Or does it all come out along without you
Along without you
Along without you

Where does reason stop and killing just take over
Does a lamb cry out before we shoot it dead
Are there many more in comfort understanding
Is the movement in the head
And I heard a million voices singing
Acting to the story that they had heard about
Does one child know the secret and can say it
Or does it all come out along without you
Along without you

Le Jazz Wet

Painting by Ward Jenkins

I was listening to the musical clip on Alex Shapiro's site, NOTES FROM THE KELP, this morning, and it stirred me up. The clip was titled Hot Mud @ 1:51.

Le Jazz Wet

Your Hot Mud moved me
and helped me to realize
jazz sustains us,
fills in the gaps,
puts character and texture
softly driven
into the core
of our world weary
hardened hearts.

Here in the northwest dampness,
jazz is the toddy,
the playmate, the friend,
the lover—
and it goes with everything;
fireplaces aglow,
cedar scent thick in the air,
as wind and rain
pelt the panes
and black and white cats
press their warm noses
against cold glass.

Jazz is the perfect companion,
for red wine or white wine,
dry or sweet,
mingling with it—
or any meat,
prime rib or spaghetti;
jazz is the spice, the glaze, the au poivre,
the aural transcendent—
stirring the emotions,
joy or grief,
philosophy or diatribe.

Jazz goes down hot
and scalding,
only to transform to cool
within our husks,
our aura,
our sphere,
midships between naval and nose,
stirring soul, sparking love,
shattering malaise—
for jazz is the daring dart
that pierces the gloom
and pours vibrant colors
into the weave of the loom.

The Remembering

The Remembering

As the silence of the seasons
on we relive abridge sails afloat
As to call light to the soul
shall sing of the velvet sailors' course on
Shine or moons send me memories
trail over days of forgotten tales,
Course the compass to offer
into a time we've all seen on
High the memory carry on
While the moments start to linger
Sail away among your dreams
The strength regains us in between our time
As we shall speak to differ
also the ends meet the river's son

Ours the story shall we carry on
And search the forest of the sun
We dream as we dream!
Dream as one
And I do think very well
That the song might take you silently
They move fast
They tell me
There's someone's rainbow

In the days of summers so long
We danced as evenings sang their song
We wander out the days so long
And I do feel very well
That the evenings take you
Silently, they move round
Sunlight, seeing ground
Whispers of clay
Alternate ways.

Softer messages bringing light
to a truth long forgotten on
As we shall speak to differ
also the ends meet the river's son
So the ends meet the river's son

I reach over
and the fruit of life
stands still
Stand awhile
we search our past
we start anew
The music sings of love you knew
We walk around the story
Out in the city running free
Sands of companions sides that be.

The strength of the meeting lies with you
Wait all the more regard your past
School gates remind us of our class
Chase all confusion away with us
Stand on hills of long forgotten yesterdays
Pass amongst your memories
told returning ways
As certain as we walk today.

We walk around the story
Out in the city running free
Days pass as seconds turn the key
The strength of the moment lies with you.

Don the cap and close your eyes
imagine yourself that is the challenge
Iron metal cast to other
Distant drums
Force the bit between
the mouth of freedom
didn't learn to fly
Remember to sail the skies.

Distant suns
Will we reach
Winds allow
Other skylines
Other skylines to hold you
All the dying cried before you
We've rejoiced in all their meaning
We advance
we retrace our stories
Like a dreamer
all our lives are only
lost begotten changes
We relive in seagull's pages
Outwards ways.

Things are all in colours
and the size of other's
shall send you forward
Arranged to sail you toward
A peace of mind
Will we reach
Winds allow
Other skylines
Other skylines to hold you
All the passion spent on one cross
Sail the futile wars they suffer
We advance we retrace our story, fail safe now
Stand on hills of long forgotten yesterdays
Pass amongst your memories told returning ways
As certain as we walk today.

Press over moments leaving you
Out in the city running free
Days pass as seconds turn the key
The strength of the moment lies with you
Out tender outward lights of you
Shine over mountains make the view
The strength of you seeing lies with you
Ours entrace we surely carry on
And change the passing of the sun
We don't even need to try we are one
And I do think very well
As the truth unfolds you
Silently
They move time
Rainbows
Sunlight
Rainbows
Soft light
Alternate view
Sunlight
Tell Me
Someone
Alternate view
Alternate view, surely, surely

Dance of the Dawn

Dance Of The Dawn

The Revealing Science of God
can be seen as an ever-opening flower
in which simple truths emerge
examining the complexities and magic of the past
and how we should not forget
the song that has been left to us to hear.
The knowledge of God is a search,
constant and clear.

Dawn of light lying between
a silence and solid sources,
Chased amid fusions of wonder,
in moments hardly seen forgotten,
Coloured in pastures of chance
dancing leaves cast spells of challenge,
Amused but real in thought,
we fled from the sea whole.

Dawn of thought transfered through moments
of days undersea arching earth
Revelaing corridors of time
provoking memories,
disjointed but with purpose,
Craving penetrations offer links
with the self instructors sharp
And tender love as we took to the air,
a picture of distance.

Dawn of our power we amuse
redescending as fast as misused
Expression, as only to teach love
as to reveal passion chasing
Late into corners,
and we danced from the ocean.

Dawn of love sent within us
colours of awakening among the many
Won't to follow,
only tunes of a different age,
as the links span
Our endless caresses
for the freedom of life everlasting.

Talk to the sunlight caller
Soft summer mover distance mine
Called out a tune but I never saw the face
Heard but not replaced
I ventured to talk,
but I never lost my place
Cast out a spell
rendered for the light of day
Lost in lights array
I ventured to see,
as the sound began to play

What happened to this song
we once knew so well
Signed promise for moments caught
within the spell
I must have waited all my life
for this Moment moment.

The future poised
with the splendour just begun
The light we were as one
And crowded through the curtains
of liquid into sun,
And for a moment
when our world had filled the skies
Magic turned our eyes
To feast on the treasure set
for our strange device

What happened to wonders we once knew so well
Did we forget what happened
surely we can tell
We must have waited all our lives,
Moment moment moment

Star light movement, reasons
Release forward
Tallest rainbow
Sun shower seasons
Life flower seasons

They move fast,
they tell me,
But I just can't believe
that I can feel it
There's someone to tell you,
Amid the challenge
we look around in unison
with you.

Getting over overhanging trees
Let them rape the forest
Thoughts would send our fusion
Clearly to be home

They move fast, they tell me,
But I just can't believe they really mean to
There's someone, to tell you,
And I just can't believe our song will leave you
Skyline teacher
Warland seeker
Send out poison
Cast iron leader

And through the rhythm
of moving slowly
Sent through the rhythm
work out the story
Move over glory to sons
of old fighters past,
Young christians see
if from the beginning
Old people feel it
that's what they're saying
Move over glory to sons
of old fighters past.

Getting over overhanging trees
let them
Rape the forest,
they might stand and leave them
Clearly to be home
Getting over wars we do not mean
We charm the movement suffers
Call out all our memories
Clearly to be home

We've moved fast
We need love
A part we offer is our only freedom

What happened to this song we once knew so well
Signed promise for moments caught within the spell
We must have waited all our lives for this
Moment moment

Past present movers moments we'll process the future, but only
Through him we know, send flowered rainbows
Apiece apart chased flowers of the dark and lights of songs
To follow and show all we feel for and knoew of, cast round,
You seekers of the truth accepting that reasons will relive
And breath and hope and chase and love
For you and you and you

The Prophet

The Prophet

(Anderson/Squire)

Long ago a tall man
told a tale of yesterday,
Searching for the truth to life
and not for just a way.

Finding pleasure from this house
his ears, they did obey;
In his life a moment's pleasure,
never to delay.

He was lost and in his trust
he found a new meaning;
Seeing the things in diff'rent lights
his life was redeemed.

Words of peace will fill his mind
and change his way of life;
Peaceful meetings with his heart
have made him more alive.

Meeting wise old women on the cliffs
of life itself;
Asking not for pers'nal meaning,
more for just himself.

Soon we'll be as he proclaimed
in a new way of living;
Take the things you need in life
but remember the giving.

Prophesy within your mind
and you will work it out;
Prophesy that some will die
but only those who doubt.

Then you'll never worry
as somtimes you used to do;
Just remember when you're gone
there's someone after you, you.

South Side of the Sky

South Side Of The Sky

(Jon Anderson/Chris Squire)

A river a mountain to be crossed
The sunshine in mountains sometimes lost
Around the south side so cold that we cried
Were we ever colder on that day a million
Miles away
It seemed from all eternity

Move forward was my friend's only cry
In deeper to somewhere we could lie
And rest forthe the day with cold in the way
Were we ever colder on that day a million
Miles away
It seemed from all eternity

The moments seemed lost in all the noise
A snow storm a stimulating voice
Of warmth of the sky of warmth when you die
Were we ever warmer on that day a million
Miles away
We seemed from all eternity

The sunshine in mountains sometimes lost
The river can disregard the cost
And melt in the sky warmth when you die
Were we ever warmer on that day a million miles away
We seemed from all of eternity

Sister Bluebird flying high above,
Shine your wings forward
to the sun.
Hide the myst'ries of life
on your way.
Though you've seen them,
please don't say a word.
What you don't know,
I have never heard.

Starship Trooper,
go sailing on by,
Catch my soul,
catch the very night.
Hide the moment from my eager eyes.
Though you've seen them,
please don't tell a soul.
What you can't see,
can't be very whole.

Speak to me of summer,
long winters
longer than time
can remember,
Setting up of other roads,
travel on in old accustomed ways.

I still remember the talks by the water,
the proud sons and daughters that,
In the knowledge of the land,
spoke to me
in sweet accustomed ways.

Mother life,
hold firmly on to me.
Catch my knowledge higher
than the day.
Lose as much
as only you can show.
Though you've seen them,
please don't say a word.
What I don't know,
I have never shared.

Moves to counter-balance stars

All to know and see
The look in your eyes
Passing time will reach
as nature relays
to set the scene
New encounters spark
a true fruition
Guiding lines
we touch them
Our bodies balance out
the waves
As we accelerate our days
To the look in your eyes

From the moment I reached out
to hold
I felt a sound
And what touches our soul
slowly moves
as touch rebounds
and to know that tempo
will continue
lost in trance
of dances
As rhythm takes another turn
As is my want
I only reach
To look in your eyes...

Siberian Khatru

Siberian Khatru

Sing, bird of prey;
Beauty begins at the foot of you.
Do you believe the manner?
Gold stainless nail,
Torn through the distance of man
As they regard the summit.

Even Siberia goes through the motions.
Hold out and hold up;
Hold down the window.
Outbound, river,
Hold out the morning that comes into view.
Bluetail, tailfly.
River running right on over my head.

How does she sing?
Who holds the ring?
And ring and you will find me coming.
Cold reigning king,
Hold all the secrets from you
As they produce the movement.

Even Siberia goes through the motions.
Hold out and hold up;
Hold down the window.
Hold out the morning that comes into view.
River running right over the outboard, river,
Bluetail, tailfly,
Luther, in time.

Hold down the window;
Hold out the morning that comes into view.
Warm side, the tower;
Green leaves reveal the heart spoken Khatru.

Gold stainless nail,
Torn through the distance of man as they regard the summit.
Cold reigning king,
Shelter the women that sing
As they produce the movement.
River running right on over,
Then over my head.

Outboard, river.
Bluetail, tailfly,
Luther, in time,
Suntower, asking,
Cover, lover,
June cast, moon fast,
As one changes,
Heart gold, leaver,
Soul mark, mover,

Madrigal

Madrigal

(Jon Anderson/Rick Wakeman)

I will be there
said my friend
of a distant life
Covered in greens of a golden age,
set in stone
Follow me,
"he sounded of dreams supreme"
follow me
Drifting within the glow
and the after-glow of the eve
And if that firelight,
I could match the inner flame.

Sacred ships do sail the seventh age
Cast off your garments of fear,
replace them with love
Most of all play
with the game of the age
Highest of places remain
all as one with you
Giving us light
and the freedom of the day
And if that firelight,
I could match the inner flame

Sacred ships do sail the seventh age
And have always been here
Celestial travellers have always
been here with us
Set in the homes
of the universe
we have yet to go
Countless expansions will arrive
and flow inside of us
My friend,
he of fantasy,
dancing with the spirit of the age

Final Eyes

Final Eyes

Person to person
woman to man
Sing me a story to reach me
Teach me to teach me
to understand
All these emotions I miss you
So you leave her
Can't believe her
Can't escapse
Final eyes
Final eyes.

Person to person woman to man
Send me this song that will teach me
Like a river without a stream
Night time without dreaming
Send me this song that will reach me
So you leave me
Can't deceive me
See through me
Final eyes
Final eyes

And I know you think there's nothing
There's nothing more to say
And I know that I've got something
I've got something to say
If ever I needed someone
You were there when I needed you
If ever I needed someone
You were there when I needed you
If ever I needed someone
You were there when I needed you

Person to person woman to man
Send me this song that will teach me
Like a river without a stream
Night time without dreaming
Send me this song that will reach me
So you leave me
Can't deceive me
See through me
Final eyes

And I know you think there's nothing
There's nothing more to say
Don't hide behind the headlines oh yea
I've got something to say
If ever I needed someone
You were there when I needed you
If ever I needed someone
You were there when I needed you
Whenever I needed
Whenever I needed
Whenever I needed
Someone
If ever I needed
Whenever I needed someone
You were there when I needed you
You saved me from falling
Saved me from falling
I'm so in love with you

Don't Kill the Whale

Dont Kill The Whale

You're first
I'm last
You're thirst
I'm asked to justify
Killing our last heaven beast
Don't hunt the whale
In beauty
Vision
Do we
Offer much

lf we reason with destiny,
gonna lose our touch
Don't kill the whale
Rejoice
They sing
They worship their own space
In a moment of love,
they will die for their grace
Don't kill the whale

lf time will allow
We will judge all who came
In the wake of our new age
to stand for the frail
Don't kill the whale

Circus of Heaven

Circus Of Heaven

(Jon Anderson)

The day the Circus of Heaven came to town
Local folks lined the streets
in a Midwestern town
Waiting anxiously for the parade
to begin all around.

On the very last day
A unicorn headed the mystical way
Surrounded by what seemed
a thousand golden angels at play
Behind were Centaurs, elves, bright fairies
all in colours of jade

On the very final day
For what seemed only just a moment in time
Seven solemn flying silvered regal horses rode by
Seven golden chariots in tow,
a wonder to behold
The Seven Lords of the Mountains of Time.

There then arose
where nothing really stood there before
A giant tent rising one thousand feet high
from the floor
Towns people flocked inside
with their eyes all amazed
To greet the Seventh Lord
of the seventh age

A fanfare rang out
in an incredible sound
Bringing out the strangest visions
perfect harmony round
Any dreams he asked
would they like to have seen
From historical or mythical scenes.

Then there above their heads
just as vivid as life
Each vision transported multitudes
inventing light
Grecian galleons,
the sack of Troy,
to the Gardens of Babylon.

A play of millions roared along
The gigantic dreams of Alexander,
the Great Civil wars
where brothers fought
and killed their friendship
with hate.
All seen by Zeus
performing scenes in the magical way
The day the circus came to town.

Outside great animals
as tame as the trees
Angels high in starlight
dancing streets
Turning their colours
with indigo and gold
Dropping violet,
red and emerald snow.

As the circus finally changed
its invisible course
A new world to be found
On the dreamy ground we walked upon
I turned to my son and said
"Was that something beautiful,
amazing, wonderful, extraordinary
beautiful?"
"Oh! It was OK!!
But there were no clowns,
no tigers, lions or bears,
candy-floss,
toffee apples,
no clowns."

City of Love

City Of Love

City of love,
City of love,
City of love,
Once bitten twice shy
No - No regrets at all
Justice - Body smooth take over
Good girls they work the city
Good guys they spike you hard
How they jive ad jingle
When you're in their backyard
Street corner wonder lust
Beckoning the good guy
Take this get that
Have a good time
He young and tactile
He ready for anything that is
How they jive and jingle
They've read the book that gives
We'll be waiting for the night
We'll be waiting for the night to come

Supervise this good treatment
Alternative line by line
So the street guys so observant
Take him for a ride
Have a good time
Like a legend the man he sharp
His woman gladly watching
As he strides out of the dark
Better be quick get away
We'll be waiting for the night
We'll be waiting for the night to come

Good timing has its good price
One trick and you're stuck with the dice
How they jive and jingle
When you're their sacrifice
Fast as lightning
Go - Go get high - He's looking good
Once bitten twice shy
No woman no cry
No woman don't cry
We'll be waiting for the night
We'll be waiting for the night to come

Awaken

Awaken

High vibration go on
to the sun, oh let my heart dreaming
past a mortal as me.
Where can I be?

Wish the sun to stand still.
Reaching out to touch our own being
Past a mortal as we
Here we can be
We can be here,
be here now.
Here we can be.

AWAKEN SUNS HIGH STREAM THRU AWAKEN
GENTLE STRONG DREAMS BEGIN HERE AWAKEN
MASS MASS
TOUCH STAR,SONG,AGE,LESS TOUCHING

Workings of man
set to ply out historical life.
Reregaining the flower of the fruit of his tree.
All awakening, all restoring you.

Workings of man, crying out from the fires set aflame.
By his blindness to see that the warmth of his being
is promised for his seeing, his reaching so clearly.

Workings of man
driven far from the path.
Rereleased in inhibitions
So that all is left for you
all is left for you
all is left for you
all this left for you now.

Master of things. Master of light.
Songs cast alight on you. All pure chance.
Hark thru dark ties. As exists cross divided.
That tunnel us out of sane existence. In all encircling mode.
In challenge as direct. Oh closely guided plan.
As eyes see young stars assemble. Awaken in our heart.

Master of soul. Master of time.
Set to touch. Setting sail.
All impenetrable youth. Over all of our lands.
Ask away. And as we look.
That thought be contact. Forever closer.
With all thats clear. Shall we now bid.
Be honest with yourself. Farewell, farewell.
Theres no doubt, no doubt.

High vibration go on
to the sun, oh let my heart dreaming
past a mortal as me.
Where can I be?

Wish the sun to stand still.
Reaching out to touch our own being
Past a mortal as we
Here we can be
We can be here.

Like the time I ran away
and turned around
and you were standing close to me.

Like the time I ran away
and turned around
and you were standing close to me.

Astral Traveller

Astral Traveller

(Anderson/Foster)

And in the ruins
Caught in the noose around me,
Glasses tell lies.
Wondering when
To do it again of another
Flying to the sky,
Somewhere flying high.
Astral trav'ller,
Leaving without her,
Wond'ring where lives go;
In and out the valley below.
Once in the air,
We could expect a great respect in being.
(Astral trav'ller.)
Memories fly
Over the sky, and oh, the
Sight's worth seeing,
Just believin'.
Astral trav'ller,
Leaving without her,
Wond'ring where lives go;
In and out the valley below.

Long Trip in a Short Boat

Long trip in a short boat

I knew when I launched -
my Canoe -
Into the river of her -
Whitewater eyes -
That I was in for a troubling
Ride -
And wouldn't be back -
For Days.

Originally this was Lane Savant's comment to my poem posted at SENTINEL. I liked it but did not want it to outshine my stuff. Then Doug shamed me into posting it by posting it himself on FEEL FREE TO LAUGH yesterday. Devious critter that Doug.

Is It Just Me?

Painting by Mike Riley

Doug Palmer this morning on FEEL FREE TO LAUGH, led off his posting with some
Emily Dickinsonisms. Per usual his dry wit and acerbic humor left me in stitches.

Is It Just Me?

So here's a poem of Emily's.
It's the first one I've ever read that is immediately understandable.
But it's given as an example of a totally incomprehensible one.

A Day! Help! Help! Another Day!
Your prayers, oh Passer by!
From such a common ball as this
Might date a Victory!
From marshallings as simple
The flags of nations swang
Steady - my soul: What issues
Upon thy arrow hang!

How 'bout?

I woke up this morning full of energy
It's kind of scary, even
This is the kind of energy
That can cause great things to happen
Simple beginnings as this
Have created new countries
I've got to stay cool: Who knows
What will happen today?

Or even;

O! What a beautiful morning!
O! What a beautiful day!
I've got a (kind of a scary) beautiful feeling
Everything's going my way.

Or, What the hell'

Goodness - Gracious -
Great balls of Fire!!!

Go figure

Actually,
I woke up today
with a feeling similar to that.
I'd describe it to you,
but I've just done that.
Besides, "feelings" are useless
and have no practical value.

I'm sure that today will be
no more than the usual click
of the conveyor belt
that drags us to the edge
of the big garbage dump
("transfer station" these days)
in the sky.

Sentinel

Photograph by Rick Mobbs.

This is another image prompt by Rick Mobbs--this one from his trip down the Colorado in the Grand Canyon last week.

Sentinel

Karluuk was young,
as spirits go,
when the canyon was birthing,
forming trenches like cosmic claw marks
deeper and deeper
into earth’s brown bosom.

He spent multiple millenniums
observing the mighty Colorado
before it ever had a name,
carving its wet signature
into the sandstone colon
of new cliffs.

Karluuk was wind spirit,
fascinated by
the industriousness of river;
so much so
that he befriended it.
Since river was water spirit
they could see
each other’s faces.

Great Manitou
enjoyed them both,
finding joy in their youthful frolic,
while wind whipped up waves,
river roared deep in its chest;
midst their play,
more so every single day,
a canyon began to form.

One day river requested
that Karluuk hover for a time
in one single spot.
“Oh yes, I could,” said wind,
But why would I?”

“Because I love you,
and our friendship
will be eternal
as you pose for me
and I carve your likeness
on this lovely new cliff”
said river.

So it came to pass
that wind swirled slowly
on one small mesa
for several days,
while river,
the loving artist,
sculpted Karlook’s face
into solid rock—
finally one midday
the masterwork was
completed.

“Why, it looks just like me!”
wind exclaimed,
“Especially my nose
and furrowed brow.”

River laughed,
splashing the nearby banks
with its giddy waves.
“There you are,
and there you’ll be
forever the watcher,
friend and sentinel.

The face is still there,
high above the canyon,
today,
for those who look,
who notice,
who care.
