Mary's Song

Painting by Dionisii Donchev

Mary's Song

Her tempo dwindled on labored days
And flew with grace on others
Clear clean air was all that was needed
And a gently working passage way

Her melody was practiced and practiced
Until a finely tuned instrument was achieved
And years changed her singing voice
It became quiet lovely

Adagio moving and rising on angels wings
In accelerando she took flight
Never looking back or
Saying goodbye with her final
Exhalation in exaltation for her maker
Screams and a heart that could no
Longer beat for her children
