Pink Pulsations

And here we are midstream in another one of my
color moods, this one pink, oh so pink, and as I
gathered images I was surprised to find a pink hydrant,
a pink tank, and then dug into my basics, the babes
in pink bikinis and bras, pink cars, trucks, equipment;
pink floral and pink abstract art, bizarre pink houses
in New England and the Cuban pink buildings, pink fish,
beads, marbles, phones, cameras; even a lion with a
pink mane. Did you know that before 1940, the color
pink, close to masculine red, was considered the hue
for boys; and blue, considered more delicate and dainty,
and related to the Virgin Mary, was selected for girls.
Somehow WWII changed all that. The Nazis forced
homosexuals to wear the pink triangle. In prison,
a pink cell with a pink rug aggrevated prisoners.
In Japan cherry blossom pink always has a sexual
connotation, relating to the labia; and of course
the pink ribbon is used to be the symbol
of breast cancer.
